I started coaching with Jemma in October 2021 and in just over my first year I achieved new PBs in my 1 mile, 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, and Marathon. When Jemma and I started I had just achieved a new Half PB of 2:10 and now my PB is under 2 hours. So the results speak for themselves! 

However, what I have found most valuable from Jemma, is how she coaches when things are not going to plan. In my time with Jemma not all my runs have gone perfectly, and I’ve had disappointing races, disappointing training, and times when I definitely didn’t think I could do what I was aiming for.

Jemma was continually supportive and kind throughout that time, she would never criticise you for not hitting a particular pace or needing a walk break or a pause, she will just remind you of what she knows you can do and then adapt your training so that it works better next time. In my most recent training I didn’t hit my paces in a lot of my long runs, but Jemma patiently convinced me to at least go out there and try and I managed to hit the pace across a whole half marathon! She knew I could do it when I needed a lot of convincing.  

Jemma has convinced me to try out workouts I never would’ve imagined or bothered to try by myself, and while they haven’t all been winners a lot of them have been so much fun. She’s also brought much better consistency and prioritising to my running, and has become a great friend with biweekly calls that I genuinely look forward to. She’s given me the confidence to try to hit paces I wasn’t even dreaming of, and the confidence to keep pushing and keep trying whether I meet those paces or not.
