Why Coaching?

Why I set up She Runs This Coaching

After being a stay at home mum for 6 years, I found myself juggling two part time jobs training to be the world’s worst barista and knowing my heart wasn’t in it.  I used my Christmas money (I am actually over the age of 8) to put myself through the UK athletics coaching course so I could, with confidence share my passion for running with other women. I had created a large instagram following (@thisgirlcanrunfar) and started to get requests for help with coaching, I knew I could help others, I just needed to qualify to do it the correct way.

Not only did I start my coaching course in January 2020 but also my Level 2 and Level 3 personal training qualification. I wanted to know in depth about strength and conditioning training to be able to help women understand the fundamentals of this area.  You can never learn too much about an area you are truly passionate about and strength training is essential for runners!

I have poured countless hours into my study and live by the principles of Dr. Stacy T Sims, a specialist in women exercise and nutrition.  ‘Woman are not small men and should not train as such.’

Did you know that when you work with the female physiology instead of against it we can use our menstrual cycle to our advantage? It’s a fascinating topic and female health is also another area I’m extremely passionate about.

There was a space in coaching crying out for someone like me. I felt that some women didn’t feel worthy of being coached and that’s just not true. Everyone can benefit from coaching whatever level you are. I had no guidance or encouragement and I struggled.

My goal is to hold a space where I can not only help others but come from a place of knowing what it’s like to be a beginner.  To look at other runners who seem to just run effortlessly and want to be like them. To support any goal because all goals are worthy.  If it matters to you then it matters to me.
